Common questions

Which NFC tags work with Tagbit?

Any NFC tag that stores NDEF data. NTAG213, NTAG215 and NTAG216 stickers and cards are cheap, widely available and work well.

How do I write a tag?

Create the tag in the app (or in the web console, then open it in the app), tap Write, and hold the top of your iPhone, or the back of your Android phone, against the sticker until the app confirms it’s done.

How do I change what a tag does?

Open the tag in the app or the web console and edit it. The change reaches the tag straight away; you never need to write the sticker again.

A tag doesn’t open when I tap it

On iPhone, unlock the phone and hold the top edge near the tag; iPhone XS and later read tags without opening an app. On Android, make sure NFC is turned on in Settings and hold the middle of the back near the tag. Metal surfaces can block NFC: use an on-metal tag there. If the tag still doesn’t open, read it with the Tagbit app’s Read screen to check what’s on it.

Do people need the Tagbit app to use my tags?

No. Tapping opens a page in the browser on iPhone and Android, or the Tagbit App Clip on iPhone. People with Tagbit installed get the action in the app.

How do PINs and locks work?

A PIN hides what a tag does until the person tapping enters it: ideal for Wi-Fi passwords. Too many wrong PINs lock the tag for an hour. Locking makes the sticker itself read-only, so nobody can overwrite it with another link; you can still change what it does in Tagbit. Locking can’t be undone on the sticker.

Wi-Fi didn’t join automatically

Joining with one tap needs a recent iPhone or Android 11 or later, and some networks (such as captive or enterprise networks) can’t be joined this way. Copy the password and pick the network in Wi-Fi settings instead.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open Settings and tap Delete account. In the web console, go to Profile, then Delete account. You’ll be asked to sign in again to confirm. This permanently deletes your profile and tags, and your tags stop working. You can also email us to ask.

I found a tag being misused

Email hello@kratue.com with the tag’s link (it looks like tagbit.app/t/…) and what’s wrong. We can turn off tags that break our terms.
